VSCOcam is an amazing resource that's the perfect step between Instagram and Photoshop; I always use it to do a few minor edits for my travel and theme photos. Up until yesterday, I hadn't considered buying more presets, but it occured to me that it's something that I use often enough to not be a complete waste of money. Not to mention the fact that they were all on sale for about half their usual price. The presets avaliable for purchase come in packs, most with no more than ten, with the exception of the Limited Edition Collection that includes thirty-eight. I figured if I was going to get myself something, might as well go the full distance. With high expectations I downloaded the full set for $2.99, which I believe is usually $6.99. The new addition definitely expanded my options, which was really exciting. I got a high quantity, and there were multiple I would say that are high quality. VSCOcam organizes their filters with a lettering and numbering system. Packs are almost always consecutives from the same letter series. I can see myself using the B and X Series tons because I'm most definitely a diehard fan of monochromatic photographs. The S Series is lovely. The P Series would have to be my least favorite, only because it has extreme tinted shadows that are too harsh for my taste.
Included in the Limited Edition Collection is B1-6, C1-3, F1-3, G1-3, K1-3, M1-6, P1-9, S1-6, T1-3, and X1-6. All of the series are were new to me and seperate from any of the free downloads that come with the app: Black & White Classic (B ), Vibrant Classic (C ), Mellow Fade (F ), Portraits (G ), Analog Classic (K ), Moody Underexposed (M ), Instant & Warm (P ), Bright & Clean (S ), Faded and Moody (T ), and Black & White Fade (X ).
I got the ultimate chance to test them out as that same day I'd just returned from a short trip up on the Cape. An October beach is silent and wonderful, natural and photogenic. I tagged along with two other lovelies and took pictures of them all the way. If you're at all interested, you can drive out to Corporation Beach in Dennis. There's something about the F2 preset that works in marvelous ways for rocks, sand, sky, and water. I highly recommend using it for a themed beach photo set. Below (opened with the F2) I'll show you more samples of nine of my favortie presets from the Limited Edition Collection:
